UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE

NOW!!! Health care should not be administered as a privilege. Quality, affordable, accessible health care is a human right and should be considered a minimum requirement for any civilized society. Our existing system of health care is inhumane and wildly inefficient. Fears that we won't be able to choose our doctors and that we won't enjoy the same quality of care that we do now in a system in which every citizen is covered are well advertised, but they are unfounded. The fact of the matter is that the existing layers of bureaucracy can be streamlined into a straightforward system which will reduce costs, expand coverage and improve care, while maintaining doctor choice. Many other countries have adopted universal health care systems. I will work toward this goal for New York State, but it will happen only when the People demand it.
